KE Music Awards Voting Rules
The KE Music Awards recognizes excellence within the Haitian Music Industry (HMI). Our mission is to ensure a fair, transparent, and representative voting process that celebrates the diversity and creativity of Haitian music across the world.
Nomination Process
The consideration period to be nominated is from October 1st 2024 to September 30th 2025 ( October 1st of the previous year to September 30th of the current year ).
Nominees are selected based on measurable performance data and chart impact, including:
Results from the KE Top 10 Chart, and verified streaming statistics from platforms such as YouTube (Music & Video), Spotify, and Apple Music.
This process ensures that nominations reflect both artistic quality and public engagement.
Integrity and Transparency
The KE Music Awards is committed to maintaining a transparent, unbiased, and credible voting process.
All votes are recorded, reviewed, and verified before winners are officially announced to uphold the integrity and fairness of the awards.
Voting Committee Composition
The Voting Committee consists of 30 members representing key sectors of the HMI community, including:
🎵 Musicians 🎚️ Producers 📻 Radio & TV Personalities
Members are selected from multiple regions to ensure international representation, including: Haiti, Miami, Montreal, Paris, Boston, New York, Port-au-Prince, Port-de-Paix, Cap-Haïtien, Jacmel, and Les Cayes.
Voting Eligibility and Participation
All 30 committee members are eligible and required to vote in every category of the KE Music Awards.
Voting is conducted using a Ranking Voting System, where each voting member ranks the nominees from Most Favorite to Least Favorite.
Ranking Voting System
Each voter assigns points to their top five (5) selections as follows:
Rank Points Awarded
1st Choice 5 points
2nd Choice 4 points
3rd Choice 3 points
4th Choice 2 points
5th Choice 1 point
With 30 voters, the maximum possible total score per category is 150 points ( 30 voters × 5 points = 150 points ).
The nominee with the highest total points will be declared the winner of that category.
Incomplete Rankings
If a voting member fails to complete their ranking choices:
The highest-ranked nominee ( based on cumulative data or general ranking order ) will automatically receive the highest available points by default.
For Event-related categories, if the ranking is incomplete, the event with the highest recorded attendance will be considered the default top choice.
This ensures consistency and fairness across all voting results.
Tie-Breaking Procedure
In the event of a tie ( two nominees finishing with the same total number of points):
1. The nominee with the greater number of 1st-place votes will be declared the winner.
2. If the number of 1st-place votes is also equal, the tie-break will proceed to the number of 2nd-place votes, and so on.
3. If all rankings remain equal, a final vote among the 30 voting committee members will determine the winner.
